We developed a printed manual (waterproofed so it can cope in the wild), as part of our In the Wild kits for the Canal & River Trust teams. The manual gives a brief overview of all of the skills practiced providing a physical and practical way that the team can re cap on information when […]
While developing our In the Wild Programme for the Canal and River trust we were very conscious re kit; size, reuse, cost, waterproofness (if that’s a word), durability and sustainability. We have built (and continue to build as the programme expands) bespoke kits for team members.
Part of our Lets Go Outdoors Project for the Canal and River Trust was to develop a three week programme that they could deliver for groups (targeted at primary schools). We developed three one hour sessions, for delivery on the waterside. Packed with some core In the Wild tools and some brand new ones too […]

As part of our work for the Canal & River trust we have developed 17 family wellbeing routes at specific locations within targeted Sport England Areas. Its been an amazing two weeks running In the Wild sessions for three cohorts of 20 learners at West Coventry Academy. Miranda supported me in week one and then Coach Anna (who is based in Leicester) joined me in week two. The In the Wild outdoor sessions again showed transformational results for participating children: “I […]
Three-week family outreach programme implemented in November/December to support learners experiencing longer-term school avoidance. Recognising the need for innovative approaches and the already successful 1-2-1 coaching interventions by Happy Confident Kids on supporting learners back to school, the school invited families to participate in these novel sessions. This initiative marked a new approach for the […]
Anna is one of our In the Wild Leaders and she recently spent a day surveying the route, with her fmaily, for our new family wellbeing trail in Ellesmere Port, where the canal once again proved its power to provide instant stillness, sparking joy for both the kids and the adults. Ellesmere Port is a […]
Love this feedback from a young participant during one of our Summer Family in the Wild Sessions.
We were so buzzing to get this amazing feedback from all the children at St Nicholas Primary School in Kenilworth, after running our five week In the Wild Programme with them.
Brilliant to be back at Ellesmere Port to be training our next cohort of Canal & River Trust staff and volunteers. It was the perfect Autumn weather and the enthusiasm from all the participants was amazing. Highlight got me was just sitting by the Canal at the middle of our training session for the Canal […]
The Bootle trail is one of the extra trails we were commissioned after the success of the first 15 trails for the Canal & River Trust Lets Go Outdoors Project, funded by Sport England. Alongside our Liverpool Docks and Stanley Locks trails its amazing to see the variety of waterside spaces available to Liverpool residents. […]
Another super hot day on the waterside, but we adapted the session and found some shade and area to rest for everyone. It was great to meet another amazing cohort of Canal & River Trust volunteers. The volunteer team give up so much of their FREE time to help others, and the tools we teach them […]

A massive highlight last month was our ongoing collaboration with the Canal & River Trust at Tees Barrage. The day was a brilliant success, bringing together everyone from toddlers in prams and Grandmas—to teens too who, got stuck right into the mud painting! Session 2: We were joined by Helen one of the Canal River […]
Coach Rosie headed back on the tracks to audit the trail for Nantwich and what she found was a lovely countryside trail, complete with aqueduct and lots of creatives canal boats along the way. You can download a copy of the Nantwich Family Wellbeing Trail here.
A few weeks ago, we jumped on a busy train and headed to the amazing city of Liverpool and headed straight to find Stanley Lock Flight. Just a few meters from hustle and bustle, we found our towpath. It led us to a gem nestled deep within the housing development—a historic canal. Once a site […]
We ran (a very wet) Family Wellbeing session in partnership with the Canal & River Trust, and what a joy it was—even in the rain! A huge thank you to all the families who braved the weather to join us at Westport Lake in Stoke-on-Trent. Running these sessions always brings us so many glimmers (tiny […]
It was a real pleasure to be invited back again to Alderbrook Secondary School as part of their community Teacher Training Day, where they invite educators from all the feeder primary schools. Three-week nature-based wellbeing programme conducted in November with a small group of learners identified with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or other additional learning needs. A total of 16 learners participated (14 from Year 8/9 and 2 from Year 7), with sessions thoughtfully divided by the school into separate groups for boys and girls. Many learners […]
“I loved all of the sessions and the coach was really kind and helpful, she helped me with all difficulties in my hearing and I loved being outside of the classroom.”
“I have absolutely loved the course. It’s been great for the children to be out in nature – shame we can’t go on for longer.”
“I loved when we did the animal breathing. It was great to be outside with fresh air and in nature. The tools helped me calm down really well.”
Glimmers are the tiny moments of joy, warmth, or connection that are easy to miss — but when you start noticing them, everything changes.
Since I started noticing Glimmers, my whole perspective has shifted. It's a game changer!
Nice to feel valued and supported as an individual. We often miss out our own care in the struggle to set up all the many school and group sessions that we run throughout the year.
