A massive highlight last month was our ongoing collaboration with the Canal & River Trust at Tees Barrage. The day was a brilliant success, bringing together everyone from toddlers in prams and Grandmas—to teens too who, got stuck right into the mud painting! Session 2: We were joined by Helen one of the Canal River […]
We ran (a very wet) Family Wellbeing session in partnership with the Canal & River Trust, and what a joy it was—even in the rain! A huge thank you to all the families who braved the weather to join us at Westport Lake in Stoke-on-Trent. Running these sessions always brings us so many glimmers (tiny […]
A few weeks ago Miranda and I travelled to the bustling town of Walsall in the Black Country. It’s a vibrant, busy urban landscape where opportunities to truly “get into nature” can feel few and far between. We were there to deliver a Let’s Go Outdoors workshop in partnership with the Canal & River Trust, […]
Coach Rosie, who is based in South London, has been out in nature delivering an In the Wild family session for her local community and the feedback is epic, check this out: Coach Rosie is one of our In the Wild Coaches and also 1-2-1 Confidence Coach, if you are looking for coaching or nature […]
At the end of the school holidays we were straight back off holiday to deliver an In the Wild Family session with the Canal & River Trust team (Adrian Royston and Volunteer Paul.) at the amazing Foxton Locks (if you haven’t been its stunning), and launch the new Family Wellbeing Route. The sessions were hosted […]
It was a delight to co-host this session with Katie from the Canal & River Trust. for many families attending the session, it was their first encounter with this specific stretch of canal. This session took place in a vibrant, developing urban landscape defined by industrial cranes and the Etihad Stadium. Despite towpath maintenance restricting […]
Held on what was the hottest day of the year, this family wellbeing session was held in the mini harbour area opposite the Canal & River Trust office. Despite the city backdrop and nearby residential blocks, the docking area provided a peaceful, secluded space away from the main pedestrian flow of the towpath. Thanks to […]
We had a lovely time delivering this family workshop in partnership with The canal and River Trust at the canal side in the middle of the city of Nottingham. It was wonderful to see the families come to take part in our well being activities and to hear that for many it was a new […]
“Being in the nature. water, ducks, sky, my son thinks it is same as forest school.”
It was great to get on the waterside with families at Hatton Locks, after all the work that goes into development of our programmes actually seeing them in action is an amazing feeling. Thanks to all the families that joined us. Sessions were delivered by Laura Dumbleton-Jones and Miranda de Freston – Directors of HCK, […]
“Seeing all these children taking part & having fun, especially my grandson.”
This was a great family session during the summer holidays . The perfect time before the kids went back to school to give them a well being boost! We ran the session at a local retreat care farm in Berkswell. Running the workshop in this lovely farmyard environment gave the children and their families a […]
Thanks to all the families that joined us at Brookside Farm for a few hours of fun, family-friendly activities in a beautiful natural setting. Learning valuable Happy Confident Kids “In the Wild” skills like mindful breathing and glimmer potions too.
“Seeing my son hold my hand, my son and a little girl laughing at the tortoises.”
Glimmers are the tiny moments of joy, warmth, or connection that are easy to miss — but when you start noticing them, everything changes.
Since I started noticing Glimmers, my whole perspective has shifted. It's a game changer!
Nice to feel valued and supported as an individual. We often miss out our own care in the struggle to set up all the many school and group sessions that we run throughout the year.
